Veggie Garden KY house

Well, Sunday 22MAR09 is the day that I told Ashley I was going to have a "small" garden tilled... Andy showed up with a tractor and a 6' tiller attachment. How could I say small to him? I had him till about a 25'x 30' garden about 10" deep.

Here is Andy tilling (I took this with my phone camera)

Here is one from the camera. You can really see he did a great job for me.

After he finished, I had to show Ashley how to pull rows. I first just hoed a couple rows but decided to add mounds to the row. I think it will be better for watering and controlling weed growth in the garden.

I planted a row of seed potatoes, yellow onions, red onions(for Mom), 3 rows of strawberries(for everyone), carrots, broccoli, 4 Tomatoes, and more to come.

25MAR09

Llast night Ashley and I started a couple egg cartons of yellow squash, marigolds, bush beans, and okra. I started with six seedlings so we could space out the harvest.

I am going to try and go today after work and cut some river cane. I need to make some teepees for everything. I want to get them in the ground before I plant anything.

05 APR 2009

I have been out of town for the entire week. I was hoping to come home to a garden full of small sprouts instead I came home to a garden full of grass.... I emptied the rain gauge out before I left and yesterday I had 3.5" of rain fall in it. It looked like a river running though the garden and one of the flower beds. I added some black mulch to it yesterday. Today I think I will try and cut some river cane and rebuild the garden a little bit. I know I have to hoe out all of those grass clumps... All day

06 APR 2009

Well, I hoed a lot of grass out of the garden just to have it rain again last night. Almost looks like I didn't do anything. The good news is the yellow and red onions are doing well. I found a few sprouts of spinach, a couple small spud sprouts starting to come up, and the rows of strawberries are doing great. The only problem is it is snowing!!! I guess we better cover and hope for the best. Yesterday, I also worked on my worm bin and compost tumbler. I will be setting the tumbler in the ground with some compost. My quick build with my saw horses worked well for about the first week. Link and pictures coming soon....

14APR09

Weather and work as kept me from being in the garden. I had I have been laying down some landscaping fabric. I am not a big fan of weeding all the time so I thought I would give this a try.

19APR09

Well I know that I am kind of slacking on my blog duty's. I am just not sure how people can get on here 10 times a day to fill these things out...
I working on building some trellis thoughtout the garden. planted some sugar snap peas tonight. see if they come up in a couple weeks. I know that it is almost too late in the season, but it has been raining and so cold. I think I am going to try and plant the sweet corn this week as well.

30MAY09

I don't know what to tell you it has been a while. Well these are the lastest pictures from the garden.

The dogs have killed the strawberries, so I am going to make a raised bed just for the berries. I am hoping that next spring I will have a good mess of them.

Kentucky House

Shawn and I were driving around one night and ended up 45 miles north of the house that we were currently renting. I just loved the house so we bought it. Here is a picture of the outside from last Spring. Shawn and I just planted all of the monkey grass lining the sidewalk.

Here is a picture of the living room. The is probably the cleanest the living has been in a long time! Miss Avery's toys have taken over!!

Here is the kitchen around the holidays. My mom and I were making a wreath for the front door so please excuse the mess. Who I am kidding? My kitchen is always a mess! Just goes to show it's lived in!

This is a preview the of the almost finished product of the pergola that Shawn built for the backyard. It was just to sunny and hot on the patio so Shawn built an awesome pergola. When I find a picture of the finished product I will add it later.

Introduction

Just a little bit about us.
Shawn and I met in Paris, Texas at Paris High School. The first time we actually met we were both seeing other people and hadn't a clue who the other was. We had never met before and it was by accident and friends that we were introduced. I was smitten at first sight. It's all history from there. :) Shawn graduated from Paris High in December 2000. After graduation, he joined the US Coast Guard which moved him from Texas to Cape May, New Jersey in April 2001. He graduated boat camp in June 2001. Luckily I was able to attend the graduation with his parents that summer! New Jersey was so pretty. After boot camp, Shawn moved to Yorktown, Virginia and spent (I think) 4 months there. I also got to stay with Shawn in Virginia for about a week that summer also. Then he was on to Gulfport, Mississippi.

We didn't get to see each other very much during the time he was in the Coast Guard because I was still in high school and he was so far away. However, we managed to see each other as much as possible. He even made sure that he was the one who took me to my senior prom. He had to drive 10 hours just to take me! I graduated from Paris High on May 31, 2002. Shawn has sitting right there with my parents. We both decided that we were ready to start our lives together and we packed my stuff and we headed to Mississippi together on June 1, 2002.

We lived together for 5 months and on November 1, 2002 he asked me to marry him. We were laying on the couch when he asked. I said 'when?" and he said right now! We drove to Mobile, AL and got married that day! We called everyone after we did it and surprised everyone. However, I honestly don't think anyone was surprised!

We continued to live in Gulfport, Mississippi until April 2004. Shawn got orders to be transferred to Cordova, Alaska! I was nervous and excited about moving that far. We had our things packed and arrived in Cordova, Alaska in June 2004. We loved it and hated it there! Shawn was gone a lot and I worked a lot. The time went by super fast. Before we knew it, we were moving again.

Shawn got orders to move to Nashville, Tennessee in March 2007. We boarded the departing ferry from Cordova to headed to Nashville, TN. Driving cross country with Shawn is one of my most memorable times. It was amamzing to see Canada.

We arrived in Nashville in June 2007. We lived there for about 6 months and moved to Franklin, KY where we bought our 1st house!!!! We lived here for about a month WHEN (guess what????) I found out I was pregnant. I had our daughter, Avery Grace Anne, on Sept. 29, 2008. She the prettiest little girl EVER!! At least I think so.

Needless to say, a lot has happened since we met!
